Friends,
If you are receiving this message, you are currently enrolled in AS.200.101: Introduction to Psychology. Woohoo! This class was completely revamped a few years ago, and this semester is shaping up to be even more special than in the past. We already have plans for special guests, in-class ‘demonstrations’, and even cute animal videos (most of which will be relevant to the course).
This note is just to let you know about a few quick pieces of info:
We have a dedicated website for the course, located at https://intropsych.jhu.edu. There, you’ll find a schedule, information about your instructors, a syllabus, and even some inspiration. Check it out! (There’s also a Canvas page, which will come online soon; but we won’t be using that very much, except for submitting assignments and returning grades — more on that when we meet in person.)
We will be using the iClicker system throughout the course, so it is important that you know how to use it. You can find information about clickers at https://ctei.jhu.edu/tools-and-tech/clickers. Don’t worry too much if you haven’t done this by our first meeting — there won’t be any ‘points’ awarded on the first day anyway — but it will eventually be very important to have this figured out!
Our first meeting of the semester is Tuesday, August 27, @ 1:30pm, in Hodson Hall 110 (the basement lecture hall). In advance of that class, please prepare by watching this educational film about psychology: https://intropsych.jhu.edu/movie.
Looking forward to meeting (all 460 of) you next week! And to a great semester exploring how the mind works.
😊, Chaz
